What to expect in the first session
First session credentials...
It is a legal obligation that a contract must be in place before any therapy begins. This contract exists between myself and yourself.
The contract sets out the guidelines and terms in which the therapy will be based on often includes and sets out the clinical boundaries. Information includes but is not limited to
- Meeting arrangements and times
- Code of conduct
- Reviewing the therapy
- Cancellation procedure
After the contract is read, understood and signed, a risk assessment is taken, this is to safeguard yourself and is normal counselling practice as part of ethical working. The risk assessment consists of some questions and also allows me to understand
